(01/16/13) Attleboro – Robert E. Fontaine, 77 of South Attleboro, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 after a long battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by his loving family; a testament to the love he shared his entire life. He was the beloved husband of Lucille J. (Major) Fontaine for 55 years. Born in Pawtucket, RI and a longtime resident of Seekonk, MA, he was a son of the late Leo and Ida (Dorais) Fontaine.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda J. Toupin of North Attleboro, MA and Donna M. Goodnow of Warwick, RI and three sons, Robert K. Fontaine of Merrimack, NH, Stephen M. Fontaine of Attleboro and David M. Fontaine of Dedham, MA. His greatest treasure and joy were his family, including 14 grandchildren ranging from age 27 to soon to be born twins. Nothing made him happier than sharing life’s special moments, and also the everyday ones, with his family. He takes these cherished memories with him for eternity.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, and enjoyed cooking, woodworking, classic movies, history, and traveling. He and his wife spent winters in Florida for many years. A 1963 graduate of Bryant College, he spent most of his career as an engineer in the jewelry industry, most recently for 20 years as Chief Industrial Engineer at Leach & Garner Co. in Attleboro, MA, before retiring in 1993.
He also leaves a sister Lucille Clement and three brothers, Norman Fontaine, Rene Fontaine, and Gerard Fontaine. He was predeceased by his sister Yvette Fontaine and brother Roger (Pete) Fontaine.
His funeral with Military Honors will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, 18 Baltic St., South Attleboro. (01/16/13) CENTRAL FALLS. Yvette Therese (LeBeau) Carozza entered into eternal life on Saturday January 12, 2013 after an illness. She was the devoted wife of John Richard Carozza, who passed into eternal life on Monday, January 14, 2013.
John and Yvette met in 1949 and were married in October of that year and were devoted to one another ever since. Yvette was a daughter of the late Leo and Antoinette (Pothier) LeBeau. And John was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Goss) Carozza.
They raised two sons, David Carozza and his wife Patsy of Alabama and John “Rick” Carozza Jr., who unfortunately passed away two years ago.
Yvette was a home maker and was devoted to her family. Besides her son, she leaves a sister Lee Ann Lanciaux and her husband Paul of Cumberland and a brother, Leo LeBeau and his wife Anne Marie of Pawtucket, 2 Grandchildren, Jaimie Lea and John Carozza III, several nieces and nephews.
John was a master electrician, he had been the City Clerk in Central Falls and also had been the Director of Public Works for three years. He had been at one time a candidate for the office of Mayor in Central Falls.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday January 19, 2013 at 11 AM in the Cumberland Community Methodist Church, 481 Broad St. Cumberland. A master seamstress, born in Gafanha da Nazaré, Ílhavo, Aveiro, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Domingos Fernandes and Rosa (Casqueira) Filipe. She was an avid reader and writer, several of her novels being published in New Bedford’s Portuguese Times Newspaper. She loved stage acting and put on many variety shows in Greater New Bedford.
She leaves 4 children, Armando Estudante and his wife Lucilia of New Bedford, Domingos Estudante of Philadelphia, PA, George Estudante and his wife Zoila of Marion, MA, and Dulce Rock and her husband Raymond of Fall River; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings in Portugal and nieces and nephews.

Born in Swansea, MA, she was the wife of the late George E. Hanson, Sr. and the daughter of the late William H. and Edith (Peters) Schaefer. Clara was self employed as a house painter with her husband for many years until retiring.
She is survived by two children; George E. Hanson, Jr. and Dorothea A. Vaz, two brothers; William Schaefer and John Schaefer, a sister; Barbara Casala, seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, six great, great grandchildren and a niece; Linda Maseanian. Linda and Dorothea were her caregivers.

(01/17/13) WOONSOCKET – Ernest B. “Jay” Riddick, 60, of Kennedy Manor, died Tuesday, January 15, at the VA Medical Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Basiliere) Riddick.
Born in Geneva, Illinois, a son of the late Ernest C. Riddick and Elizabeth N. (Kilzer) Riddick, and stepson of the late Thomas Graves, he had lived in Woonsocket for the past twenty years.
Mr. Riddick worked as a truck driver for the former H & N Shipping, and later for Crest, before retiring in 1991.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Paul, during the Vietnam War. He was a communicant of Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Church, Woonsocket.
He is survived by three daughters, Sherry L. Beauchamp, and her husband Michel, Erin Riddick-Bradley, and her husband Dennis, and Kaitlyn Riddick, all of Woonsocket; four sons, Thomas “T.J.” Riddick, and his partner, Missy, of Rumford, Maine, William Charpentier of Woonsocket, Eric Charpentier of Okinawa, Japan, and Arthur Charpentier of Cranston; eighteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Brenda Hazelwood, Eddie Riddick, and Melba Riddick.
His funeral will be held Monday, January 21, at 11:00 a.m. in BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial, with military honors, will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. (01/18/13) LAMOTHE, Iva B. (Barrette), 99, formerly of Ivy Dr., Coventry, passed away Jan. 10, 2013 at Coventry Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was the wife of the late Arthur J. Lamothe. Born in West Warwick, a daughter of the late Ovila and Ida (Bourque) Barrette. She was a resident of West Warwick for most of her life.
Mrs. Lamothe was a teacher’s aide at the Trudeau Center for 15 years before retiring in 1979. She was a communicant of SS. John and James Parish where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Nina Circle # 67 and enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane C. Holt and her husband John of Coventry and Maria L. Riccard and her husband Paul of Edgewater, FL; a son, Arthur J. Lamothe, Jr. and his wife Anita of Camden, NC; eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Annette Sepe and sister of the late Doris Ferenz, Ovila J. and Jeannette Barrette.

(01/19/13) Marshall P. Martin, 80, of Warwick, a retired Insurance Broker, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Brentwood Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Smith) Martin. The couple married on June 30, 1956. Born in Providence, the son of the late Alexander and Alfreda (Olson) Martin, he lived in Cranston before moving to Warwick in 1956.
Marshall was a graduate of Cranston East High School and Bryant College. He was a member of Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian, where he served for many years as an Elder, Youth Leader, and Sunday School Teacher. Active for many years in Community Affairs and Democrat political activities, he served as a member of the Board of Public Safety and the Warwick Housing Authority. Marshall taught Dale Carnage Courses, volunteered as a Cub Scout Master and was a tireless member of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his sons, Bruce A. Martin (Laura) of New Bedford, MA, Paul D. Martin (Karen) of Fairfield, CT, his grandchildren, Jennifer L. Martin, Eric M. Martin, and his great-grandchildren, Cameron P. Martin and Haiden L. Martin.

She was the secretary at St. Paul School C.C.D. in Cranston for 10 years before retiring in 1999. She enjoyed vacationing at Point Pleasant Beach, NJ and Key West, FL.

Devoted wife of the late Atherton Cutter, and former wife of the late Eugene J. Tessier, Jr. Sister of the late Alice Leach, the late Virginia Goodby and twin sister of Nancy Lockwood Von Essen.

Russell J Kokernak - West Warwick, RI
(01/21/13) West Warwick - Russell J. Kokernak, 65, of Trellis Drive, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Kent Hospital in Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Joan F. (Carpenter) Kokernak.
Born in Worcester, MA a son of the late Felix J. and Irene G. (Bianchi) Kokernak he lived in West Bolyston, MA before moving to West Warwick in 2003. Russell was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and the recipient of two bronze stars.
Russell was a member of the Christian Hill Community Church. He was an avid bird watcher and amateur photographer. His family is remembering him as someone who is kind, gentle and always put others first.
Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Susan Smith and her husband John of Spencer, MA; his son Scott Kokernak and his wife Kim of Worcester, MA; his step-children Jeremy Booth and his wife Mandy of Middletown, RI and Stephanie Beazley and her husband Brian of Westminster, CO; his sister Jean Powers of Cranston, RI; his brother James Kokernak and his wife Pam of Grafton, MA and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Christian Hill Community Church, 56 Tiogue Avenue, West Warwick. Interment in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Bolyston, MA will be private. Information and condolences at carpenterjenks.com.

Lorraine (Brault) Jackson - Fall River, MA
(01/21/13) Lorraine (Brault) Jackson, 90, of West Whately, MA, formerly of Tiverton, Fort Myers, FL, Swansea, and Fall River. Wife of the late Fall River Firefighter, Edwin J. Jackson, died Sunday, January 20, 2013.
A former member of the Fall River Firefighters Auxiliary, she was employed by the former Fall River Trust Co. and worked in the Fall River School System’s Special Education Dept.
Lorraine’s first love was spending time with friends and family whom she cherished. Giving to those around her was a constant and came naturally. While her ability to “light up a room” at any and all occasions will forever be remembered. She was never idle (into her 90’s) an avid reader who also enjoyed bowling leagues, card games, Caribbean cruises, the beach, time at “The Cottage” and a really good scotch! She was accomplished at sewing, knitting, ceramics, and caring for her many precious plants.
She leaves 4 children, William Jackson of Temple, NH, Nancy Reidy of Harrisburg, PA, James Jackson of Fall River, and Maureen Antaya of West Whately; grandchildren, Jennifer Gulseth, Adam Hebert, Bethany Reilly, Elise and Maren Antaya and Patrick and Brandon Jackson; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Francis and Charley Gulseth and Rowan and Reese Reilly; a sister, Yvette Ratte of Fall River; and nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Edilbert and Bertha (Gagnon) Brault and the sister of the late Maurice Brault.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday at 12:00 noon in the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River.
Visitation, Thursday morning prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. Please omit flowers.
