(01/13/13) Clara M. (Wenzin) Capasella, also known as Clare, of Shore Rd, Westerly, RI, passed away peacefully at age 90 on January 10, 2013.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, Kathy Ann Maggiacomo of Westerly, RI, Carolyn Mayo of W. Harrison, NY, Diane Capasella of Queens, NY and Christina Longo of White Plains, NY and her sister, Christina Klaniecki of Whiting, NJ. She was a loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren, one of whom predeceased her, Christopher R. Mayo, and 7 great grandchildren. She is also predeceased by her husband, Anthony Capasella, her sisters, Augusta Edelmann and Caroline Wenzin, and her sons-in-law Vincent Longo and Robert Mayo.
Clara was born in New York City on September 3, 1922, the daughter of the late Christian and Caroline (Phitzmier) Wenzin. On October 1, 1944 she married Anthony Capasella at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in White Plains. They met and fell in love while working together at the Westchester Country Club in Harrison, NY. After raising her daughters she worked as a Human Resource Representative at The Reader’s Digest in Pleasantville, NY for 20 years.
Clara lived most of her life in Westchester until 1987 when she retired and moved to Rhode Island. Most summer days, she could be seen swimming, sunbathing and walking on the beach. Clara was an avid golfer, gardener and traveler. She loved to cook and host family dinners. She often volunteered her time to the Chorus of Westerly and the Babcock-Smith House.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, January 14, 2013 at 10:00 am at Mt. Carmel Church. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Hillside Avenue, White Plains, NY.

(01/13/13) DUTILLY, Therese I. “Terry” (Biron), 85, formerly of Read Ave., Coventry, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at Alpine Nursing Home.
She was the wife of the late Leo A. Dutilly, Sr. Born in West Warwick, a daughter of the late Leon and Rosina (Peltier) Biron.
Mrs. Dutilly enjoyed water color painting, playing cards with family and bingo.
She leaves two daughters, Ann M. Rogers, of Ft. Myers, FL and Susan Wieboldt of Coventry; four sons, Leo A. Dutilly of Estes Park, CO, Ronald P. Dutilly of Yulee, FL, Richard A. Dutilly of Atlanta, GA and Joseph P. Dutilly of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Aldea Montigny of Coventry and Anita Davis of Ilion, NY; a brother, Leodore Biron of Charlotte, NC; 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Leo Biron, Claire Bosquet and Annette Martin.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at 9 am from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick. (01/13/13) ROUVELAS, ZACHARIAS P. \"Jack\" , 86 of Cranston and Bonita Springs, Fla. passed away peacefully January 12, 2013. Born in Providence , he was the son of the late Peter and Maria (Kalogeras) Rouvelas. He was the beloved husband of Nadine T. (Myer) Rouvelas for sixty years, the cherised father of Teresa M. Santagata and Gary P. Rouvelas, and devoted grandfather of Krystan M. Santagata, Thomas Z. Santagata and Allison P. Rouvelas. He was predeceased by his sisters Angelina Pappas and Ethel Petrucci.
Jack, as he was called by family and friends, served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict and survived a plane crash in 1953. He was the proud founder and owner of Garden Hills Florist until retirement in 1998.
He was a member of FTD and AHEPA and the R.I. Florist Association.

(01/14/13) Falguni “Fal” B. Hauser, 43, of Narragansett Avenue, Westerly, RI, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at home, in Westerly, RI.
Born in Petlad, India, she was married to Rudolf C. Hauser, Jr. They were married for 19 years. She was the daughter of Babubhai H. and Naresha B. (Soni) Soni of Bethel, CT.
Falguni was a homemaker to her loving family. She was a 1991 graduate of the Western Connecticut State University. She was an artist and a volunteer at local schools and the Girl Scouts and was a former Board Member of the Chorus of Westerly. She was the author of the Scouting Column in the Westerly Sun.
Besides her husband she is survived by her four children; Rudolf C. Hauser, III, Ravi A. Hauser, Rashmi B. Hauser, and Aasha R. Hauser, three sisters; Bhumika A. Dave and her husband Ashesh, Sital B. Soni and her husband Ray Dubois, Seema B. Flores and her husband Salvador, her father- and mother-in-law; Rudolf C., Sr. and Lucille S. (Lussier) Hauser, two brothers-in-law; Andre E. Hauser and his wife Lisa, and Benjamin K. Hauser and his wife Jenny, and many nephews and a niece.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Chorus of Westerly, 119 High Street, Westerly, RI. Franklin C Johnson, Jr - Scituate, RI
(01/14/13) Franklin C. Johnson, Jr., 89, of North Scituate passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center with his wife and family. He is survived by his cherished wife of 67 years Gladys N. (Jergensen) Johnson. They were married October 30, 1945. He was born in Providence, the son of the late Franklin C. Johnson, Sr. and Georgina (Goodrich) Johnson.
Frank, also known affectionately to friends and family as \"Jonny\" is a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. In 1948 he graduated with a BS Degree from Bryant College. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WW II.
He worked most of his career as an Industrial Engineer for several companies including Owens Corning in Lincoln. Starting in 1974 he served as President of Roger Williams Hospital until his retirement in 1983. In his retirement years, he enjoyed gardening, computers and spending time with family and friends.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children Douglas F. Johnson and his wife Meredith of Greenville, Linda A. McMahon and her husband Stephen of North Scituate and Ricky L. Johnson and his wife Vickie of Dayton, Ohio. He has 5 grandchildren Aaron Johnson of Coventry, Kristian Osagie of Coventry, Phillip Johnson of San Diego, CA, Christopher McMahon of Sandy Hook, CT, and Father Michael McMahon, Assistant Pastor of St. Augustine Church in Providence. He is also the great-grandfather of 7. He was the brother of Gladys Isibel of East Greenwich and the late Geraldine Smith.
His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 10:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). (01/15/13) Louis P. Szurleys, 93, of Detroit St., Fall River, husband of the late Alice (Proulx)Szurleys passed away at home, surrounded by his family and friends, Saturday, January 12, 2013.
An Army Air Force veteran of WW II, he worked in the textile industry and for Anderson Little Manufacturing, and was a letter carrier and clerk with the US Postal Service for 23 years, retiring in 1980. An avid sportsman and Red Sox and Patriots fan, he enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the former St. William Parish.
He leaves 3 children, Joan Sliger (Kenneth) of Tennessee, Louis P. Szurleys, Jr. (Diane) of Alaska and Sandra Szurleys (Todd Medeiros) of Fall River; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. (01/15/13) Christopher E. Mitchell, 57, of Coventry passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at Coventry Skilled Nursing. Born in Warwick, he was the son of the late Earl R. and Ella (Kenyon) Mitchell.
Christopher had been a printer for various printing companies and served in The United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a graduate of Coventry High School, class of 1973 and was a Varsity Hockey Player. He attended Rhode Island Junior College from 1973-1975 and played Hockey on the RIJC New England Championship 1973-74 Hockey Team. He played in the Coventry Men\\\'s Softball League for the Village Pub and VFW Post 9404. He was an avid golfer and antiquer.
He was the beloved father of Thomas Christopher Mitchell of North Kingstown and Vanessa Leigh Mitchell of Coventry. Loving brother of Emily M. Riley and her husband Richard of Coventry and Elizabeth M. Snow of Cranston.

(01/15/13) Pawtucket – Dewey Roberts, 89, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Violanda (Giuttari) Roberts and the late Christine (Barker) Roberts.
Born in Manchester, KY, a son of the late William and Alice (Henson) Roberts, he had lived in Pawtucket for over 50 years.
Mr. Roberts was a salesman for John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company for 37 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Mr. Roberts was a member of the Le Foyer Club, and a Past Treasurer of the East Side Checker Club.
He is survived by one daughter, Joan V. Rigney and her husband, Leonard of Rehoboth, MA; one son, William S. Roberts and his partner, Sandra Simpson of Pawtucket; one sister, Lula Hughes of Richmond, KY; one brother, J.C. Roberts of Fairfield, OH; three grandchildren, Jason Rigney, Samantha Pereira and her husband, David and Jillian Bradley and her husband, Kevin; one great granddaughter, Mattea Eve Pereira; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Homer Roberts, Nora Turpell and Mary Ann Roberts.

Joseph Marcel Rosaire "Ross" Lamontagne - Cumberland, RI
(01/15/13) Cumberland - Joseph Marcel Rosaire “Ross” Lamontagne, 79, died on December 25, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband for 61 years of Margaret Madeline (Bouchard) Lamontagne who has been his sweetheart since Junior High School. He was the son of the late John and Angelina (Charbonneau) Lamontagne.
At 16 years old, Ross graduated from Mount Saint Charles Academy and then joined the Naval Reserves. He provided for his family as a professional salesman until he retired from the McKesson Drug Company in 1995. As a career salesman, he was a member of the “Knights of the Grip,” a professional organization of traveling salesmen. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing baseball for several community leagues including the Club Montcalm (Manville) and Brown and Sharpe.
As his family grew, he became a competent carpenter, painter, plumber, landscaper, and was always eager to help anyone in need. After each snowstorm, he could be seen clearing his neighbors’ driveways around his home in Albion of 46 years and later at his home in Cumberland when he moved there in 1996. While living in Albion, he served with his sons on the Albion Fire Department and drove rescue many years. He was a Boy Scout leader, bowled with the Bussing Buddies in the Walnut Hill Senior League, serving as their treasurer and earning the title of top bowler on many occasions. He enjoyed golfing with family and was an avid pitch and cribbage player participating in many leagues in Northern RI including the VFW Post in Slatersville.
His true passion in life was his devotion to his wife and family. Ross was a kind and welcoming man with a quiet sense of humor and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Besides his wife, he leaves four children: David and his wife, Paulette, of North Smithfield, Mark and his wife, Diane, of Smithfield, Renee of Exeter, and Michelle Metivier and her husband, Bruce, of Glendale, Arizona. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Coutu and her husband, Eugene, of Leesburg, GA, three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
His life will be celebrated with a Memorial Mass on Saturday January 19 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 191 School Street, Albion, RI. Sister M. Concetta Monti, RSM - Cumberland, RI
(01/15/13) MONTI, SISTER MARY CONCETTA, 94, a Sister of Mercy and a former teacher, principal, and missionary, passed away at Mount St. Rita Health Centre, Cumberland, on Tuesday, January 15, 2013.
Born Mary Josephine Monti in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Enrico and Rosalia Monti. She entered the Sisters of Mercy on February 2, 1940 and professed her perpetual vows on August 16, 1945.
Sister Concetta graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy in 1938. She earned a B.S. in Education from the Catholic Teachers College in Providence and continued her education at Salve Regina College (now University) in Spanish, Teacher Supervision, and Religious Studies.
She began her teaching ministry at Tyler School in Providence, where she worked for 12 years. She was later assigned to St. Matthew School, Cranston, and St. Brendan School, Riverside. Her missionary ministry began in 1957 at St. Ignatius School, Belize, where she served as Principal until 1966. Sister returned to Rhode Island to teach at Bay View after which she was assigned to teach at Mazapan School in Honduras. In 1969 she returned to Bay View as teacher and then was assigned to St. Brendan School. In 1992 she volunteered at the Genesis Center in Providence until 1996 when she began her ministry of prayer. Sister Concetta spent 54 years teaching and serving in the ministry of education.
In addition to her religious family, the Sisters of Mercy, she is survived by nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Catherine Venditti, Michael Monti, Concetta Monti, and Gaetano Monti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 11 am in Mount St. Rita Chapel, Cumberland. Visitation will be at the Health Centre from 9:15 am to 10:50 am with a Mercy Prayer Service at 10:20 am. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Robert was an engineer for Raytheon Company in Portsmouth, RI for forty years.

(01/12/13) Anna V. (Michalka) Grich, 91, of Beachwood Apartments and formerly of Anglers Ct. in Narragansett, passed away Saturday January 12th under the loving care of the staff at the Scallop Shell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wakefield. She was the wife of the late Andrew C. Grich.
Born in Coaldale, PA, a daughter of the late Sekundin “Michael” and Justine (Benech) Michalka, Mrs. Grich has been a resident of South County since 1983 coming from Stratford, CT. Anna was proud of her work as an inspector at Remington Arms in Bridgeport, CT. during World War II. She was a communicant and former member of the Guild of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Narragansett. Anna had been an active member of the South County YMCA for the last thirty years. She was also a member of the Senior Youth Assoc. at the former Larry Tetreault Center in Peace Dale and the Narragansett Senior Center.
Mrs. Grich is survived by her daughter Maureen Sherback and her husband George of New Durham, NH and her two grandsons; Michael Sherback and his wife Grace Li and John Sherback and his fiancée Angela Kriley. She also leaves her very special friend Barbara Walsh of Narragansett and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Stephen and John Michalka, Justine Geusic, Mary Babinetz and Bernadine Lutchkus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday January 18th at 10:00AM in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Pt. Judith Rd., Narragansett. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Rt. 2, Exeter. Eleanor M (Wise) Wood - Westerly, RI
(01/15/13) Eleanor M. Wood, 95, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, teacher and friend, of 68 School St., Westerly, RI, wife of the late Alfred F. Wood Jr., died peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Kathryn Piacenza.
Born November 23, 1917, in Albany, N.Y. she was the daughter of Adam and Catherine (Osterhout) Wise. Mrs. Wood graduated from N.Y. State Teachers College, Albany, 1935 with a BA in education in Latin, French, and English and earned a MA in Education in Guidance 1939-1943. In N.Y. State she taught for 8 years before moving to Westerly in 1948. Here she taught languages in the Senior and Junior High Schools, then was a counselor in the Junior High for 20 years before retiring in 1983.
Mrs. Wood was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, tutored for the literacy volunteers, served in the local AARP, belonged to the Senior Citizens Center, volunteered at the Westerly Hospital and served as a board member of the Westerly Armory.
She is survived by her loving family; one son, David Wood of Westerly, two daughters, Donna Cecchini and her husband Robert of Midlothian, VA., and Kathryn Piacenza and her husband David of Ledyard, CT. with whom she made her home during her final three months of life; six grandchildren, Jaime Wood, Rochelle Shawver, Ashley Wood, Paul Cecchini, Lisa Cecchini, and Robin Piacenza; four nephews, Charles and John Wood, Richard and Chris Wise; one niece, the Rev. Dr. Victoria Wood Parrish; a sister-in-law, Martha Lou Wood, and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Warren Wise and her daughter-in-law, Dina Wood.
A remarkable example of the strength and character of a member of the “Greatest Generation”, Eleanor will be remembered with great affection by all who knew her.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 10 Park Ave., Westerly, RI at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 19, 2013. The Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship St., Westerly, RI. is in charge of funeral arrangements.

F. Lee Fenton - Coventry, RI
(01/15/13) Coventry – F. Lee Fenton, 93, of Hickory Road, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Herman and Gladys A. (Wyman) Fenton, he lived in Scituate for twenty-four years before moving to Coventry in 1986. He served in the United States Army during World War II with Company B 637th Tank Destroyer Battalion.
He was an auto mechanic for forty years thirty of which he was co-owner of the former Parente’s Service Station on Park Avenue in Cranston before retiring in 1996. He also worked part-time for eleven years for Staffall Inc. of Cranston.
For 45 years he was an amateur radio operator using the call number W1NNU and a member of the Northern Rhode Island Radio Club. He was a member of Parents Without Partners Providence Chapter #77 and he loved to square dance.
He is survived by one son: Stephen L. Fenton and his wife Joy of West Greenwich; twin daughters: Joan C. Gentile and her husband Michael of Cranston and Janet F. Wilson of Cranston; his companion Jane Muziuk; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Rosalie F. Cusick and grandfather of the late Peter Michael Fenton.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 pm at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon. A private burial service, with military honors, will be held on Thursday in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.

William J. "Bopper" Hackett - Fall River, MA
(01/15/13) William J. “Bopper” Hackett, Jr., 70, a lifelong resident of Fall River, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013.
A former member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, activated in 1962, serving active duty at Fort Bragg NC. He was employed by Citizens for Citizens for numerous years and was a bartender at Billy’s Café for several years. A member of the Corky Row Club, he was an avid sports fan and enjoyed dancing.
He was the son of the late William and Alice (Morris) Hackett; the brother of the late Joan Stallman; the uncle of the late Michael Stallman; and the longtime companion of the late Carol Hilton.

Dorothy A (Jacques) Messier - West Warwick, RI
(01/16/13) Dorothy A. (Jacques) Messier, 88, of West Warwick passed away Tuesday at Kent Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph Messier for 71 years. Born in West Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Eva (Chartier) Jacques.
Mrs. Messier was an Inspector for Colonial Elastic Co. in West Warwick.
She was the beloved mother of David Messier and his wife Theresa, Robert Messier and his wife Betty and Jean Chadwick and her husband Jerry, all of West Warwick. Loving grandmother of nine and great grandmother of eleven.

Therese (Reilly) Simmons - Cumberland, RI
(01/16/13) Cumberland – Therese (Reilly) Simmons, 75, passed away on January 15, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert L. Simmons.
Terry was born in Woonsocket, the daughter of the late John A. and Florence (Creighton) Reilly. She was a graduate of St. Clare High School and Regis College. She began her teaching career as a volunteer in the Lay Apostolate in Hobbs, New Mexico. She taught for several years in the Bellingham, Massachusetts and Woonsocket school systems.
When her children reached school age, she managed the Cumberland Meal Site for Senior Services. Subsequently, Terry and two friends opened Second Editions, a consignment store on Front Street and Higginson Avenue in Lincoln, which she owned and operated into the 1990’s.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her loving children, James R. Simmons, Esq. and his wife, Amy of Middletown, John R. Simmons and his wife, Claudette of East Providence, Carroll Ann Messier of Burrillville and Christopher H. Simmons of Cumberland; her loving grandchildren, Tyler H. and Katherine E. Simmons of Middletown, Ashley M. and Justin R. Simmons of East Providence, and Mikaela T. and Christopher D. Messier; and her sister, Esther R. Caran and her husband, Anthony of Cumberland; one niece Esther Plouffe and one nephew, John A. Reilly. She was predeceased by her brother, John A. Reilly, Jr.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held SATURDAY, JANUARY 19 at 10 A.M. in St. John Vianney Church, 3655 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
