(02/20/13) Pawtucket - Fernanda (Gomes) DeAndrade, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. She was the wife for sixty-eight years of the late Alvaro DeAndrade, Sr.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Gabriella (Andre) Gomes. Fern came to the United States at the age of 18 months, spending her life in Rhode Island.
She leaves behind her daughter, Dorothy Brennan of Johnston; two sons, Al DeAndrade and his wife, Roberta of Lincoln and Richard DeAndrade of Pawtucket; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Joe Gomes of Bristol and sisters, Marie Baldasari in California, Alice Fournier in Florida and Dottie Talik in Michigan. She was preceded in death by her son, Vincent DeAndrade; brother, Mario Gomes; sisters, Rose Calhoun, Pat Sylvester and Carol Perry; son-in-law, Tom Brennan and daughter-in-law, Lucille DeAndrade. She will always be remembered with much love.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Leo the Great, 697 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
