Meehan, John E., 86, of Pleasant Street died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket.
Born in Providence, a son of the late John and Mary (McKennery) Meehan, he had been a Cranston resident for over 30 years. Mr. Meehan was a firefighter in the City of Providence for 36 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Providence Retired Police and Fire Association and the Pawtuxet Athletic Club.
He leaves a sister, Mary M. Thomas of Cranston and many nephews and nieces. He was the brother of the late Richard H. Meehan.
His funeral will be Saturday at 9 AM from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church, 239 Oxford Street, Providence at 10 AM. Calling Hours Friday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to St. Michael Church will be appreciated. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. www.trainorfh.com.
