(07/24/14) Cucca, Mary A.(Mercadante), passed away at her home on Thursday, July 24, 2014 in Somerset, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Providence, RI to Joseph and Maria Mercadante. She was married to the late Albert J. Cucca.
Mary was an avid business woman and founded the secretarial service “Girl Friday” in the Industrial National Bank Building in Providence, RI. Mary was the office manager for Dr. Stanley Simon for over 25 years and a part time travel agent.
Mary was an avid bridge player and was known for her love to travel the world. Mary also loved shopping, musical theatre and entertaining friends and family. Mary was an active member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club for over 30 years and a trustee for the Rhode Island Opera Company. Along with her longtime companion Mr. Rene LePage, Mary loved Ballroom Dancing and spending time at her Condo in Del Ray Beach Florida.
Mary is survived by her longtime companion, Mr. Rene LePage; her three children, Joan Mulvey, Alan Cucca, Jayne Daylor, her son-in-law Kevin Mulvey, her daughter-in-law, Nancy Cucca; her grandchildren, Nicholas and Kathryn Cucca, Sarah, Adam and Collin Mulvey, Emily and Sophia Daylor. Mary is also survived by her brother Michael Mercadante, of Helendale, Calfornia and was predeceased by her brother Emilio Mercadante.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesset Road, Warwick on Monday, July 28 at 11 AM followed with interment at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the Mass at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Remembrances may be shared at carpenterjenks.com.
