Teresa L Pellegrino Graziosi Pierson - Coventry, RI

(10/10/12) Teresa Lea Pellegrino Graziosi Pierson, age 84, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2012, at Rhode Island Hospital. The daughter of Achilles Graziosi and Campiodina Pellegrino, she was born in Rome, Italy on October 15, 1927. On November 11, 1945 she married her late husband Army Sergeant Lionel Armand Pierson who was stationed in Italy. Teresa came to the United States in 1945. She worked for the State of Rhode Island as a Dietary Specialist for many years, working at the Ladd School in Exeter, RI and the RI Training School for Boys until her retirement in 1992. She was a long time Cub Scout Den Mother for the RI Cub Scouts and also worked closely with the Boy Scouts of America organization. She was an advocate for Elderly Affairs of Rhode Island. She was an active parish community member and a communicant of St. Faustina Catholic Community located on Park Avenue in Cranston, RI. She is survived by four sons, Gil Pierson, Michael Pierson, Sr., Ronald Pierson and Mark Pierson; 12 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren and one sister, Anna Pellegrino Graziosi Napoli living in Dominica and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas and by four siblings all from Rome, Italy. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, October 16 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Funeral services will begin with prayer and scripture readings at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday with committal and internment at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich, RI. A member St. John’s Athletic Club, he was an avid card player and enjoyed Foxwoods Casino and especially spending time with his family. He leaves 3 sons, Ronald J. White, Jr., Robert White and Michael J. White, all of Fall River; grandchildren, Cortney L. (10/11/12) Seekonk – Timothy J. Shields, 46, passed away after a battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Kathie S. (Cabral) Shields for twenty years. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of William M. Shields of Pawtucket and the late Muriel R. (Kittredge) Shields, and the stepson of Dulce Shields of Pawtucket. Tim resided in Attleboro and Pawtucket before moving to Seekonk eight years ago. He was a Senior Field Auditor for Cumberland Farms since 1993. Tim was an active communicant of St. Teresa Church, Pawtucket. He loved being involved with his children and their friends, and enjoyed attending their school and sports activities. He was also a coach for Darlington Girls Softball as well as the Rhode Impact Travel Team for the past eleven years. Besides his wife, father and stepmother, he leaves two children, Tyler W. Shields and Katelyn N. Shields both of Seekonk; his grandmother, Esther Kittredge of Attleboro and his uncle, Charles Kittredge of Pawtucket. (10/11/12) Don G. Sinesi, Esq., 76, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Warwick, died peacefully at Kent Hospital on Friday, October 5, 2012. Born in Boston, MA, he was a son of the late John Sinesi and Stella (Ingala) Sinesi. He was the companion of Barbara Manco. Attorney Sinesi was a graduate of Providence College and Suffolk University School of Law, and was an attorney for many years with Canham & Sinesi. He was a Communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church. He leaves his three children: Don G. Sinesi, Jr., Jacqueline Sinesi, and Tania Sinesi. He was the brother of Roland Sinesi, Val Sinesi, Rebella Sinesi, and Lillian Sinesi. A Memorial Mass was celebrated in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church. Burial was private. Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Omer and Lydia (Lemieux) Allard, she had lived in Pawtucket for the past 57 years. Mrs. Andrade was an assembler at Hasbro for 25 years, retiring in 1991. She is survived by one daughter, Susan G. Rodenbaugh and her husband, Glenn of Lincoln; one son, Steven Andrade of Cumberland; one grandson, Brian Rodenbaugh and his wife, Kristen of Lincoln; two great grandchildren, Ashley Bears and Aidan Rodenbaugh; three nieces; and two goddaughters. (10/12/12) Coventry – Elisabeth M. Standish, 75, of Hill Farm Camp Road, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of John H. “Jack” Standish. Mr. and Mrs. Standish celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on May 19, 2012. Born on April 24, 1937 in Holland, The Netherlands, a daughter of the late Jacobus and Grietje (Vianen) Koper, she came to the United States in November of 1956 and has lived in Coventry ever since. She worked as a custodian at Coventry High School and as a teacher’s aide at the former Flat River Middle School in Coventry before retiring in 2006. Besides her husband she is survived by three children: Michael Standish, Susan L. Standish and Lisa M. Lukowicz, whose husband is John, all of Coventry; one brother: Albert Koper of The Netherlands; seven grandchildren: Jacob and Jessica Landry, Brandon Standish, David Lachance, Brianna Lukowicz, Adam Bonner and Cassandra Lukowicz and three great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Kees and Jacobus Koper. She is being remembered as a very loving and generous person, who loved to shop and travel and whose strength and courage throughout all the years of her illness was an inspiration to many people. At her request there will be no calling hours. Her family will hold a private celebration of her life. (10/13/12) Seekonk - Ernest J. Strzesak, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Jeannette M. (Garon) for 59 years. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Stanley & Krystyna (Chorzenpa) Strzesak. Ernest worked as a chef for the Harry M. Stevens Co., at various racetracks along the east coast, later he worked for the Thompson Chemical Co., Attleboro, having survived the 1964 explosion and fire. More recently he was the head custodian at the North School, Seekonk until his retirement. Ernest was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 3, Seekonk. He was also a devoted NE Patriots fan and enjoyed reading. Besides his loving wife, Ernest leaves his two children, Susan J. Bessette and her husband, Robert and Michael E. Strzesak and his wife, Kimberly all of Seekonk; three grandchildren, Kristen Spell and Brooke Gibbs both of Fayetteville, NC and Derek Froment of Seekonk; three great-grandchildren, Kayla and Jacob Spell and Alex Gibbs and many nieces and nephews. Rudolph was a retired electronics assembler at Raytheon, a U.S. Army Air Force veteran and a parishioner of St. Thomas More Church. He was the father of Judith Boutin (companion Ronald Mandeville), Linda Knight (husband Richard), Jacqueline Boutin, Stephen Boutin, Michael Boutin (wife Kimberly), all of Somerset and the late John Boutin (wife Jacalyn). He was the brother of Jacqueline Doehler, Theresa Frederick and Leo Boutin, all of Fall River and the late Anita Vaughn and Roger Boutin. (10/13/12) Patricia Salisbury, of Cranston, died Thursday October 11, 2012 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Clifford H. Salisbury, Sr. and Elsie H. (Passett) Salisbury. Miss Salisbury had lived in Cranston for over 27 years previously living in Warwick. She graduated from Sturdy Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1948. She served for 9 years in the U. S. Navy Nurse Corps, holding the rank of Lt. Cmdr. After leaving the navy she worked as a Private Duty Nurse and at R. I. Hospital retiring in 1987. Pat was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, Phillips Memorial Baptist Church of Cranston, Signet Chapter #21 Order of the Eastern Star, and had served on the Board of Governors at R. I. Hospital. She volunteered at Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island in their office and at “In Sight”. As an owner of Boston Terrier’s she would take her dogs for pet therapy to nursing homes and was a member of the Boston Terrier’s Club of CT. and MA. Pat was the dear friend of, Betty L. Holloway and the late Doris M. Thornton. She was the sister of the late Clifford H. Salisbury, Jr. and is survived by her beloved dog “Celley”. (10/13/12) Narragansett - Frances Parsons, 91, died on Thursday, October 11, 2012 after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Rev. Forest L. Parsons. Rev. and Mrs. Parsons celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on August 22, 2012. Born in Seagrove, NC she was the daughter of the late Rev. George and Mrs. Mary (Hattman) Wiesen. She was the cherished mother of Leslie Anne Erickson, whose husband is Bruce, of Narragansett and Philip G. Parsons, whose wife is Cristina, of Johnston; grandmother to Rebecca Paquette, Jon Erickson, Katherine and Matthew Parsons and great grandmother to Madeline, Ruby and Eden Paquette, Bryson and Colin Griffis Parsons and Emma Parsons. She was the sister of Anne (Weisen) Brown of Piper Shores, ME and of the late Henry and George Wiesen. Frances and her husband served with the American Baptist Mission in Burma in the 1940’s. She was a talented organist, a world traveler, the author of two books and an avid gardener. She will be remembered for her excellent cooking, unparalleled hospitality and her love for her family. (10/13/12) Dorothea M. (DiStefano) Beaumier, 95, of Warwick, formerly of Killingly Street, Providence, died Friday, October 12, 2012 at home. She was the wife of the late Armand L. Beaumier. Born in Providence, the daughter of the late Pasquale ans Adele (Notorantonio) DiStefano, she resided in Providence most of her life until moving to Warwick four years ago. Dottie enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an established piano player with a great love of music. For many years she was a member of the Holy Cross Parish. She is survived by her loving sons David P. Beaumier and his wife Lucia of Providence, Armand L.Beaumier Jr. and his companion Elizabeth O\'Grady, with whom she lived, her devoted son-in-law Dr.Robert A. Marzilli, and her cherished grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Beaumier was predeceased by her beloved daughter Linda A. Marzilli and two brothers Norman and Bernard DiStefano. (10/14/12) Pawtucket – Anita E. (Kelly) Wims, 90, a loving wife and devoted mother, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 12, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis “Mickey” J. Wims. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Malachi E. and Loretta M. (Burns) Kelly, she resided in Pawtucket most of her life. Anita was a graduate of St. Joseph School, Pawtucket East High School and the Tabbutt-Hubbard School of Business. She was a secretary for the New England Telephone Company before leaving to raise her family. A devout catholic, she was a communicant of St. Teresa Church and an active member of St. Teresa’s Mother’s Club. Anita was a trained soprano, she especially enjoyed singing and playing the piano, she also enjoyed traveling. She leaves three loving children, David K. Wims and his wife, Jeannette of Ossipee, NH, Melissa Wims Risk and her husband, Barry of Pawtucket with whom she made her home and Peter F. Wims and his wife, Deb of Indianapolis, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Kelly, James, Francis and Edward Wims, Heather Kraus, Tamara Risk, and Matthew and Michael “Mickey” Wims and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Cahill, John, Malachi, Loretta and Michael Kelly, Helen “Cunnie” Oxley, James Kelly, Geraldine Hoyt and Barbara Pelletier. Friel, Jr., 71, of Saltaire Ave. in Narragansett, passed away Thursday October 11th in the South County Hospital in Wakefield.  He was the husband of Mary Jane (Dennis) Friel of Narragansett.   He was born in Providence on May 29, 1941, a son of the late Leonard P. and Alice V. (Donnelly) Friel.  Mr. Friel summered in Bonnet Shores since 1954 moving to Pt. Judith permanently in 2000.  Leonard was a graduate of LaSalle High School class of 1959 and Providence College class of 1963 and received his MBA from New Haven University in 1975.  For 34 years Mr. Friel was a salesman for the Pfizer Laboratories retiring in 2000.  He was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Narragansett.  He was a past president of the Lions Club in Ledyard, CT as well as a past president of the Ledyard Youth League.   Besides his wife Mary Jane, Mr. Friel is survived by four children; Leonard L. Friel III, Mary Friel-Levcowich, Michael J. Friel and Kevin P. Friel; his sister Mary Moniz; his four grand children Haley, Luke and Sophie Friel and Abigail Levcowich.   He was the brother of the late Catherine Madancy and Michael J. Friel.     Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday October 17th at 10:00AM in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. She is survived by six children, Yvette Lemieux (late husband Guy) of North Carolina, Pauline White (husband David) Westport, Antoinette Schwerak (husband John) of Florida, Yvonne Earley (husband Michael) of Illinois, and Joseph McGee (wife Connie) and Leo McGee (wife Denise), all of Rhode Island; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Marcel and Lydia (Labrie) Levesque and the sister of the late Lucienne Banville, Lauretta Flynn and Marcel and Emile Levesque. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. George Church, Highland Ave., Westport, at 9:00 AM. (10/15/12) Laurinda (Oliveira) Almeida, 71, of Fourth St., Fall River, widow of Domingos Almeida, died Sunday, October 14, 2012. Born in Arrifes, São Miguel, Açores, she lived in Fall River for the past 43 years. A retired seamstress, and member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she enjoyed listening to music, cooking, sewing and most of all spending time with family and friends. She leaves children, Lucia Luz Warley (husband Jeff) of Florida, Anna Viveiros (husband Antonio), Maria Fatima Almeida, M. Connie Azevedo (husband Manuel), Manuel Almeida, and Domingos Almeida, Jr., all of Fall River; grandchildren, Kelly Duarte (husband George), Isaac Luz, Debbie McGeorge, Marissa Richard, Jonathan Viveiros (fiancée Caroline Botelho), Alexa Almeida and Nicholas Almeida; great-grandchildren, Logan and Luke Duarte; siblings, João Oliveira and Maria Jose Cordeiro of the Açores; and several nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Carmen (Ventura) Oliveira; and the sister of the late Encarnação, Manuel and Liduina. Born in Fenais da luz, São Miguel, Açores, he was the husband of Albertina (Perreira) Silva and son of the late Vincent and Maria Isabel (Sousa) Silva. Mr. Silva was a retired worker at Boulevard Nursery. Previously, he worked at Dick Frederick Construction. He was a past member of the Father J. Boehr Council of the Knights of Columbus and of St. Michael Church. Besides his wife, Deodato leaves children Joseph Silva of Fall River, Raymond Silva of Somerset, Sal Silva of Fall River, Deodato Silva of Somerset and Susan Costa of New Bedford; brother Alfred Sousa Silva of Somerset, Humberto Sousa Silva of Canada, José Sousa Silva of São Paulo, Brazil and the late Manuel Souza Silva; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was a 1932 graduate of Rhode Island College of Education, taught at Temple Street School, Providence, before becoming a Consultant for the Catholic Division of a major K thru 12 school book publisher. Predeceased by her brothers: James (Dorothy), FL, Thomas, Warwick and Charles (Marcia) Mulcahey, Seattle; a sister, Ruth Carroll (William) East Greenwich; a niece, Joan Mulcahey Carroll (John), East Greenwich and a nephew, James A. Mulcahey, Jr., FL. Survived by nieces and nephews: Robert T. Mulcahey (Ann), Cranston; Terrence S.
