(01/17/13) Clara F. Hanson, 86, of Goldsmith Avenue, East Providence, RI, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Coventry Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Coventry, RI.
Born in Swansea, MA, she was the wife of the late George E. Hanson, Sr. and the daughter of the late William H. and Edith (Peters) Schaefer. Clara was self employed as a house painter with her husband for many years until retiring.
She is survived by two children; George E. Hanson, Jr. and Dorothea A. Vaz, two brothers; William Schaefer and John Schaefer, a sister; Barbara Casala, seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, six great, great grandchildren and a niece; Linda Maseanian. Linda and Dorothea were her caregivers.
She was predeceased by a daughter; Roseann Hanson, a brother; Peter Schaefer and a sister; Madeline Almeida. Her services are private and are under the direction of Gorton-Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI.
