Bertrand J Theriault - Pawtucket, RI

(01/13/13) Pawtucket – Bertrand J. Theriault, 91, a retired educator, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Jean-Baptiste and Eugenie (Charette) Theriault. He was a World War II United States Army Air Corps veteran. Bert was assigned to the 8th Air Force in Thurleigh, England and flew 38 combat missions. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross; five Air Medals; two Purple Hearts and various World War II related military decorations. Upon being honorably discharged from the military, he pursued and was awarded a Baccalaureum Degree with Honors in Education and further received his Masters in Education, all from Providence College. He was a High School and Middle School teacher as well as a baseball coach in the Mansfield School Department for 30 years until retiring in 1982. He was devoted to his family and St. Cecilia’s Community. Bert was an avid Red Sox fan and a member of LeFoyer for over fifty years. He leaves a brother, Raymond J. Theriault of Pawtucket; a sister, Therese Gendreau of North Providence; fifteen nieces and nephews; 25 great nieces and nephews and two great-great-nephews. He was the brother of the late John J., Lucien J. and Roger J. Theriault, Yvonne C. Langlois, Simonne M. Theriault, Noella Ouellette and Jeanne M. Griffin. . His funeral with Military Honors will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the CHEETHAM FUNERAL HOME, 1012 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church, Central Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. VISITATION will be Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St. Cecilia School, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02861 would be appreciated. CHEETHAMFUNERALHOME.com
