(01/12/13) North Kingstown - Henry L. Johnson, age 74, of Greenmeadow Circle died Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Hynes) Johnson with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 28, 2012.
Born in Owensboro, KY, a son of the late Henry H. and Hazel (Cameron) Johnson, he served in the United States Navy as a Seabee before retiring after 21 years of duty. After his retirement from the Navy he worked as a driver for North American Van Lines, as a rigger for the Director Shipyard and as a guard for Levington’s Security. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 42.
Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters: Deborah Thompson and her husband Mark of West Warwick, Mary Johnson of North Kingstown and Cheryl Florio of West Warwick; three sons: William Johnson and his wife Beth of North Kingstown, Henry Johnson and his wife Holly of North Kingstown and Dale Johnson and his wife Tanya of Cranston; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral from Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Tuesday at 8:30 AM followed by a committal service and military honors at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter at 9:30AM. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 14, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
