Ronald J Gauthier - Pawtucket, RI

(11/05/12) Pawtucket – Ronald J. Gauthier, 71, of Wilton Avenue died surrounded by his loving family Sunday, November 4, 2012 at home after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Elaine S. (Laffey) Gauthier. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Rosario and Hilda (Boday) Gauthier. Ron was a member of St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, Pawtucket, where he served on the Parish Council for many years, and was a past Treasurer and the current President of the Parish Council. He was a member of the New England Region of SOYO, where he served as President for several years and also as Vice President. Ron was a sales manager for the former William H. Haskell Manufacturing Co., Pawtucket and later for Robbins Manufacturing Co., Fall River, where he worked for 20 years retiring in 2003. Ron was the current City Sergeant of Pawtucket and had previously served on the Pawtucket Parks & Recreation Department Committee. For 18 years, Ron headed the Pawtucket Men’s and Women’s Softball Leagues, where he served as an umpire and hired many of the umpires at that time. After his late son Christopher was diagnosed, he worked tirelessly with the Pawtucket Men’s Softball League and raised $25,000.00 for The Jimmy Fund. Ron has worked as a valued employee for Bellows Funeral Chapel, Lincoln for the past several years. Ron was the lifetime President of the “Prognosticators Club of Rhode Island”. Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his loving daughter, Stephanie Chowning and her husband, Bryan, and his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Leila and Emily Chowning, all of Cumberland; one sister, Flora Sipes of Asheville, NC; and several nieces and nephews. He was the loving father of the late Christopher R. Gauthier and the brother of the late Bella, Clovis and Doris Gauthier. His funeral will be held THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 249 High Street, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Pawtucket.
