Dorothy C (Smith) Hindley - Lincoln, RI

(07/21/12) Lincoln – Dorothy C. (Smith) Hindley, 100, formerly of Dexter Rock Road passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Village at Waterman Lake, Smithfield. She was the wife of the late James W. “Bill” Hindley. They had been married for 68 years. Born in East Walpole, MA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Grace (Kilbourn) Smith. She resided in Lincoln for 78 years and was an active member of Chapel Street Congregational Church in Lincoln. She traveled extensively with her husband, particularly under the auspices of the Pawtucket Rotary Club and the YMCA. She also hosted many international visitors and relatives from England and Australia in Lincoln and her summer home in Mashpee, MA. She leaves three sons, Jay and his wife, Eunice of Chepachet, Anthony and his wife, Carol of Mashpee, MA and Philip and his fiancée, Patricia Moreau of South Kingstown; eight grandchildren, Jill Lawrence; Eden Spierdowis; Erik, Scott and Mark Hindley; Stephanie Hindley; and Bradford and Marshall “Mark” Gould; and fifteen great grandchildren. Her brother, Dr. Stephen Smith, Jr. was lost in World War II. Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Hindley’s memory to Chapel Street Congregational Church, 185 Chapel Street, Lincoln, RI 02865 would be appreciated.
