(09/05/15) Cumberland – William T. Whittaker, 68, of Cumberland died peacefully Friday, September 4 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Brod) Whittaker.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Ralph and Helen (Chowaniec) Whittaker, he had lived in Cumberland for most of his life. He loved to golf, and vacation in New Hampshire.
Mr. Whittaker was the resource coordinator for the Providence Gas Company for many years before retiring.
Bill was a Cumberland High School graduate and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Providence College.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Jillian Whittaker of Providence, Ross Whittaker and his wife, Yuko of Tokyo, Japan and Nathan Whittaker of Cumberland; his sister, Mary Martin of Hudson, MA; his brother, James Whittaker and his wife, Noriko of North Kingstown; and his two beloved grandchildren, Charles and Lillia Whittaker.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, September 8 at 8:45 A.M. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. John Vianney, 3655 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private.
