(06/02/15) Bestwick, Henry “Hal” A., 65, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl A. (Autotte) Bestwick for 33 wonderful years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John R. and Mary E. (Curson) Bestwick.
Hal worked at Providence Gas Co. for 24 years before leaving due to his illness. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, was an associate member of the VFW Post #9404 in Coventry and a Freemason of Harmony Lodge #9 F. & A. M.
Some of his interests were fishing, skiing, hunting and anything outdoors. He was considered an artist with many of his paintings and drawings illustrating the wildlife and nature he inhabited.
Not only was he an easy going and approachable man, but was also a doting father whose life revolved around his precious daughter Kerri.
Besides his wife Cheryl, he is survived by his daughter Kerri Bestwick of Coventry and a brother John Bestwick of Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters: Carol Augustine and Vivian Post.
Calling hours will be Saturday, June 6 from 3-5 PM followed by a funeral service at 5 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI. Gathering and interment will take place at RI Veterans Cemetery 301, South County Trail, Exeter, RI on Monday, June 8 at 9 AM.
