Barbara H (Cannity) Shaw - North Smithfield, RI

(03/20/15) North Smithfield – Barbara H. (Cannity) Shaw, 90, of North Smithfield died Thursday, March 19, 2015 at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Albert K. Shaw. Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Roland and Alma (Tester) Cannity, She grew up in Pawtucket and had lived in Southbridge, MA and Millville, MA for over 10 years before moving to North Smithfield 2 ½ years ago. Mrs. Shaw was a registered nurse at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital for over 40 years retiring as Head Nurse in 1986. She was a graduate of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was a member and past secretary of the Memorial Hospital Nurses’ Association. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Pawtucket. Following her retirement, she volunteered for many years at the Little Sisters of the Poor, Pawtucket. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret M. Nassaney and her husband, Patrick of Millville, MA; her son, Albert K. Shaw, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne of Estero, FL; four grandchildren, Patrick and Ryan Nassaney, Stephanie Asheim and Albert K. Shaw, III; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Shawn M. Nassaney and the sister of the late Roland, John and William Cannity. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 24 at 12 Noon at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday from 10 A.M. - !2 Noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Shaw’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
