(03/20/15) Dr. William W. Ferris, 106, of Warwick passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Sunny View Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Mary P. (Russell) Ferris. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late William W. and Lou (Jewett) Ferris.
An Optometrist with Drs. Ferris Optometry, he retired in 1984. Dr. Ferris was a graduate of Cranston East High School and U.R.I. Both Dr. and Mrs. Ferris were active in the founding of the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center.
He was a life member of The Lions Club and a Life Member of Potowomut Golf Club. He was a giving and loving man and enjoyed playing poker at Foxwoods in his later years.
He was the beloved father of Patricia L. Ferris and Marcia E. Turley and her husband Ronald, all of Warwick. Loving grandfather of Marcy L. Matott and her husband Daniel. Cherished uncle of Suzanne and Edson Pease of Arizona, Dr. David and Charlotte Ferris of Warwick, Judith and Richard Barry of Warwick and Richard and Kelly Ferris of North Kingstown. He was the brother of Dr. Richard J. Ferris, John A. Ferris M.D. and Elizabeth Ferris.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Service on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00 am in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1817 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center, 3445 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02886 would be appreciated.
