(01/30/15) Irene M. Turner, 93, of Bailey Drive West Greenwich, RI, passed away on January 29, 2015 at the Alpine Nursing Home in Coventry, RI. Born in Warren, RI, she was married to the late Frank P. Turner and was the daughter of the late John and Olive (Avila) Medeiros.
Irene was an inspector for Star City Glass Works in Coventry for many years until her retirement. She belonged to the Coventry-West Greenwich Elks Club Emblem 436. She loved sports. While in the service and retired from the US Navy Irene and her husband Frank enjoyed bowling and were an unbeatable team winning many trophies in various leagues. She also loved to dance, play bingo, travel and bird watching.
She is survived by three children; Bonnie Bell Rose, Jean Ann Nowak, and Frances Pauline Gravier, six grandchildren; Kevin Gravier, Ronnie Rose, Erica Oki, Heidi Leonard, James Testone II and Nicholas Testone, and ten great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home and Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. A calling hour will be held prior from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Burial will be at the RI Veterans Cemetery, in Exeter, RI.
