Cranston - Frederick G. Parsons, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Cranston on Sunday evening, January 4, 2015. Born in Cambridge, MA, Fred was the son of Hugh C. Parsons and Grace (Reader) Parsons, both of Newfoundland. Fred was married 52 years to Louise (Price) Parsons. Fred leaves a son, Shawn A. (Betty) Parsons of Cranston and a daughter, Stina G. (Scott) Daly of Pembroke Pines, FL. He is survived by two brothers – David (Donna) Parsons and Robert (Ruth Ann) Parsons, and a sister, Diane Parsons-Salem.
Fred was a special grandfather (‘Pa’) to Amy, Abby and Stefan Parsons and to Dakota Daly. He leaves behind many very special nieces and nephews.
Fred served his country in the US Army and later graduated from Northeastern University. He worked for many years at Mahr-Federal, Inc. in Providence as an engineer until he retired. Fred travelled extensively for the ISO (International Standards Organization) and held office in the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers).
Fred was always quick to reach out to someone who might be in need. Most importantly, Fred was a man of strong, steady faith and that faith influenced his every life choice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the West Valley Inn, Triple Crown Room, 4 Blossom St.., West Warwick, RI.
