(11/23/14) Pawtucket – Julian T. Pietraszka, 93, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Grandview Center in Cumberland after a short illness. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Adam and Maria (Kulikowska) Pietraszka. Julian was one of seven children, all now believed to be deceased. He was educated in the Pawtucket school system and was a graduate of East High now Tolman High School. Julian served four years in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and with the support of the GI Bill, later graduated from Bryant College in 1950 with a BSBA degree. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the State of Rhode Island in the Social Services Department. Julian was married to Eileen V. (Stanton) Pietraszka and they have six children, Eileen A. (Pietraszka) Sawyer and her husband, Raymond of Pawtucket, Julian A. Peters of Pawtucket, Edith (Pietraszka) Barry and her husband, Michael of Franklin, Massachusetts, Thomas Pietraszka (deceased) and his wife, Leslie (Silva) of Pawtucket, Leslie A. Peters of Pawtucket and David Pietraszka and his wife, Gina (Springer) of Westerly, Rhode Island. He was the devoted dziadziu to Tracey Sawyer, Jenny Sawyer, Allison Sawyer, Adrienne Pietraszka, Jared Pietraszka, Meaghan Barry, Michael Barry, Andrew Pietraszka, Peyton Pietraszka and seven great-grandchildren. His funeral followed by interment with Military Honors at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket will be private. Visitation and flowers are respectfully omitted.
