Raymond E Lamoureux - Lincoln, RI

(09/05/12) Lincoln – Raymond E. Lamoureux, 84, formerly of Manville, died comfortably Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Port Health Center, Newburyport, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Claire (Laliberte) Lamoureux who died in 2005. They were married for 48 years. Born in Manville, he was a son of the late Leo and Antonia (Gouin) Lamoureux. He is survived by his daughter, Madeleine Gagnon and her husband, John of Seabrook, NH and their children, Ashley and Seth Chevalier and Nicholas and Andrew Gagnon; his son, Jean Lamoureux and his wife, Anita of Cape Coral, FL and their children, Benoit and Nicholas; his sister, Jacqueline Robidoux and her husband, Denis of Cumberland and their daughter, Monique Johnson. Mr. Lamoureux was a 1947 graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy, where he played both hockey and baseball. He attended Providence College. He played professional baseball in Drumondville, Canada. He was the Northeast Manager for Beneficial Finance Company and was the collections director at Roger Williams Hospital. He was active in youth sports, coaching baseball and hockey. He coached hockey at Rhode Island College, and was Director of Summer Hockey Leagues in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He took many youth hockey groups to Canada for tournaments. He had the opportunity to coach Philadelphia Flyers Head Coach Peter Laviolette while coaching at Franklin High School. He enjoyed owning and racing thoroughbred horses throughout New England. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 at 9 A.M. in St. James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Manville.
