(10/09/14) Richard “Dick” George Plouffe, age 65 of Scituate, died Thursday at Kent Hospital, Warwick, RI. He was the beloved husband of Sue Plouffe.
Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late George B. and stepmother Joan Plouffe and the late Elsie Jane (Pierce) Plouffe-Watson. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during Vietnam.
Dick loved gardening, creative cooking, riding his John Deere tractor. He loved music, the New England Patriots and especially his pup, Zoe. His family remembers him as a true family man who was always lending a helping hand, a true gentleman.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Shawn McGrath and his wife, Tricia of TX, his daughter Kristin Preble and her husband Alex of ME, his grandchildren Kaylie and Taylor, his brothers-in-law Raymond Rock and James Rock and his wife Carol, and his mother-in-law Laura DeCosta . He was brother of the late Peter Plouffe and Susan Ganz.
Visitation will be Saturday 9-11 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to RISPCA, 186 Amaral Street, Riverside, RI 02915.
