Francis J Harten, Jr., D.D.S. - Cumberland, RI

(08/19/14) Cumberland – Francis J. Harten, Jr., D.D.S, 85, of Fisher Road died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Mary T. (McNelis) Harten. Born in Pawtucket, and the son of the late Francis J. and Grace E. (Keough) Harten, he had lived in Cumberland for the past 51 years. He was a graduate of Providence College and the Georgetown University School of Dentistry. Dr. Harten was a dentist in Lincoln for 41 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member and Past President of the Pawtucket Dental Society. He was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland and a member of Lincoln Council #4007, Knights of Columbus. He was a World War II Army veteran. In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by six children, Michael F. Harten of Warwick, Stephen P. Harten and his wife, Nancy of North Kingstown, Paul G. Harten and his wife, Mary of Lincoln, Kevin J. Harten and his wife, Jennifer of Salem, MA, Maureen E. Beebe of Warwick and Brian C. Harten and his wife, Carmen of Cumberland; one sister, Sr. Mary Lois, RSM of Lincoln; eleven grandchildren; and three great granddaughters. He was the father of the late Virginia G. Harten and the brother of the late Sr. Gilmary, RSM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in St. John Vianney Church, 3655 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. The burial service will be private. Calling Hours are respectfully omitted.
