(06/06/14) Smithfield – Rose (Stephen) Abraham, 92, Austin Avenue, Greenville and formerly of Holiday Drive, Lincoln died Friday, June 6, 2014 at Cortland Place, Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Louis Abraham, Sr.
Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Gabriel and Mary (Anter) Stephen, she had lived in Lincoln for 47 years before moving to Greenville last year.
Mrs. Abraham had worked for the R.I. Department of Employment Security and later was the administrative assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs at Rhode Island College before her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the Professional Secretaries Association.
She was a member of St. Ephraim’s Syriac Orthodox Church, Central Falls, and its Ladies Society. She was also a member and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eugene T. Lefebvre VFW Post #1271, Central Falls and the Ladies Auxiliary of Major Walter G. Gatchell VFW Post #171, Pawtucket.
She is survived by one daughter, Gail Bonitati and her husband, Roland of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; two sister, Alice Bohmler of Wrightstown, PA and Helen Panichas of Smithfield; one brother, James Stephen of Lincoln; five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Elaine McLellan and Louis Abraham, Jr.; the grandmother of the late Jason L. Abraham and Katherine Kenworthy-Rodrigues; and the sister of the late John Stephen, Louis Stephen, Jennie Taylor and Anthony Stephen.
Her funeral will be celebrated WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11 at 9:45 A.M. from BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln with Services at 11 A.M. in St. Ephraim’s Syriac Orthodox Church, 215 Washington Street, Central Falls. Burial will be in Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls.
