George N DeWolfe - East Providence, RI

(06/05/14) East Providence – George N. DeWolfe, 84, of Rumford, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Joan C. (Howe) DeWolfe for 62 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Robert and Harriet (Mason) DeWolfe. George proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Roosevelt over three years. He worked as a driver-salesman for various bakeries in the area and later worked for FRAM Corporation, East Providence until his retirement in 1992. George was also a part-time custodian at St. Margaret Church, Rumford for many years. He was a handyman who enjoyed tinkering in the yard and around the house. George will best be remembered for his great sense of humor. Besides his loving wife, he leaves a son, Michael N. DeWolfe and his wife, Kathleen of Pawtucket; two daughters, Joanne E. Snow and her husband, Jon, Sr. of Portland, ME and Kerry A. Villanis and her husband, Brad of Wakefield; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by his grandson, Kyle R. Snow and was the youngest of twelve late siblings. His funeral with Military Honors will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave. Committal services will follow at Swan Point Cemetery. VISITATION will be Monday 4 to 7 p.m. George’s family wishes to extend it deepest gratitude to the staff of the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence, for their kindness and compassion during an especially difficult time.
