(08/08/12) Richard G. Robinson, 72, of Victory Highway, Coventry, RI, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Phillip Hulitar Home and Hospice Care of RI, in Providence RI.
He was married for fifty two years to Nancy J. (Duxbury) Robinson. He was born in Lynn, MA to the late Arnold S. and Doris M. (O\\\'Malley) Robinson.
In 1966 he entered into the elevator industry and worked for Otis, Payne, and Atlantic Elevator South for a total of 42 years of service. He belonged to the Local 39 IUEC and was a business agent for three years in the early eighties. He was a naval veteran during the Cuban Crisis in the submarine service and participated in the Russian Blockade. He completed six years service from 1958-1964.
Besides his wife he leaves four children; Scott R. Robinson, Sheryl J. Tennent, Jodi L. McCulley, and Jon R. Robinson, eight grandchildren; Nicolle Gravier, Justin Robinson, Madison, Sienna, Logan and Declan McCulley and Sean R. and Riley M. Tennent, two great grandchildren; Brenia and Olivia Gravier and one sister; Beverly A. Robinson. He was predeceased by a brother; Arnold W. Robinson.
Military Honors will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 4:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home and Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI followed by visiting hours from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Summit Baptist Church, 1176 Victory Highway, Greene, RI.
