(04/02/14) Hamet “Sonny” Seleyman, Jr., 89, of North Providence passed away on Monday at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth M. (Caraman) Seleyman for 68 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Hamet and Mary Seleyman.
Mr. Seleyman was employed by Worcester Textile until his retirement in 1998 and then with Twin River Casino until 2010. He served with The United States Navy aboard the USS Bogue during WW II. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of God in East Providence and the Mancini Senior Center in North Providence.
He was the beloved father of Wayne Seleyman and his wife Linda of North Providence, Joyce M. Potter and her husband Stephen of Warwick and Doreen A. Balon and her husband Larry of Massachusetts. Loving grandfather of five and great grandfather of eight. Caring brother of Allie Seleyman and Rose Lauderbaugh, both of Anderson, IN and the late Fatima Amsden.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hopkins Manor, Rhode Island Hospital and all who made his life a little happier.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) followed by burial in North Burial Ground, Providence. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
