(03/25/14) Raymond E. Charest, 92, of Bonnie Court, Wallingford, CT. formerly of Tripp St., Fall River, loving husband of 68 years of Gertrude R. (Laflamme) Charest, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014. He passed quietly while in his La-Z-Boy rocker, holding his wife’s hand.
An Army veteran of WW II, he was employed at the Newport Naval Base and by the former New Method Laundry and Parks Shellac Co., Somerset. He enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the American Legion, a committee member of the Blessed Sacrament Credit Union and the Teamsters Union. Ray was quick witted, with a wonderful sense of humor. His true love was being with his family and friends.
He was the father of Denis A. Charest (wife Karen) of Wallingford, CT, Daniel M. Charest (Julia Fogg) of New Hartford, CT and the late David R. Charest (wife Ann Elizabeth “Betsy” Charest of Fall River); the grandfather of Justin Charest (Meghan), Jennelyn Charest (Alvaro Zuniga), Brett Charest (Sara Hall), Jonathan Charest (Allison Brouillette), Brendan Charest (Amy), Jameson Charest (Kristin) and Brigitte Charest (Christopher Burd); the great-grandfather of Madison, Matias, Evan, Anderson, Ethan, Owen, Xavier, Bentley, Marliegh and Amelia; the son of the late Abdon and Merina (Croteau) Charest and the brother of the late Noella Croteau, Jeannette Binette, Bertha Belanger and Loretta, Benoit, Henry and Blanche Charest.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at Holy Trinity Church, at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
