(03/24/14) Maria Kripotos, 46, of Reservoir Avenue Providence, passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2014. Born in Montreal, Canada, she was the daughter of James Kripotos and the late Helen (Marsis) Kripotos.
Maria attended Meeting Street School until 1989 where she was a star student. She was president of the student council, and the school’s Young Adult Ambassador. Maria was featured in several telethons and newspaper articles which highlighted her achievements, overcoming the limitations of cerebral palsy. She worked at the Providence Public Library, and went on to earn her GED in 1995, and graduate from New England Tech in 1998 with a degree in Computer Information Systems Technology.
Maria loved chatting on the internet, shopping for clothes, taking trips to the beach, and speeding around in her wheelchair. She will be remembered by her sparkling personality and animated laughter, which will be deeply missed by her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday at 10:00 am at the Church of the Annunciation, Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Burial will follow at North Burial Ground, Providence. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Woodlawn Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston.
