(03/18/14) Richard A. Olson, Sr., 87, of Warwick, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was the former husband of Angela S. Osterberg. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Carl T. Olson, Sr., Mildred (Peabody) Olson and step-son of the late Beatrice L. (Peabody) Olson.
Mr. Olson was employed as a Welder at Davisville Naval Air Station until his retirement. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII & Korea. He was a member of King Solomon Lodge # 5 F & AM and a long time friend of \"Bill W.\"
Besides his former wife, he is survived by his two children, Richard A. Olson, Jr. of Warwick and Donna M. Tall Bear of Oklahoma. He was the father-in-law of the late Linda M. Olson. Cherished grandfather of Briana Kearns, Katrina Kearns, and great-grandfather of Averi Howard. He was the brother of the late Carl T. Olson, Jr. and Marjorie Reynolds and brother-in-law of Lorraine Olson.
His Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 19, 2014 at 11:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95). Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
