(01/28/13) Coventry - David G. Maine, Jr., 64, of Cantaberry Lane died at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 27, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Patricia J. (Silva) Maine.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late David G. and Alice T. (Cardosi) Maine, Sr., he moved to Coventry in 1977. He served during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force.
Employed for 34 years by the United States Postal Service David was a letter carrier in Pawtucket. He was an avid golfer and a member of the West Warwick Country Club where he also worked as a groundskeeper. He loved being outdoors, especially working in his yard.
He graduated from New England Institute of Technology where he studied cabinetmaking. A very talented woodworker he recently made each of his daughters a wooden toy box. David was very devoted to his family. He is being remembered by his family for his unconditional love and for his being “a good friend”.
Besides his wife he is survived by his two daughters: Laura J. Maine and her fiancé Ronald Lavoie of Coventry and Pamela J. Standish and her husband Donald Jr. of Coventry; one sister: Deborah Mangina of Pawtucket; one brother: Mitchell Maine of Cranston; his granddaughter Allie Maine Standish and his nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Michael Maine.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 31 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 1 at SS. John & Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
