(01/26/13) James A. Lepikko, 73, of Ashaway Rd., Westerly, passed away on January 24, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane (Boucher) Lepikko. Born in Westerly on November 9, 1939, he was the son of the late Eino and Olga Lepikko. In addition to his wife, he will be greatly missed by his daughter, Tammy (Lepikko) Anderson, and son-in-law Charles Anderson of Richmond; and his son James Lepikko, Jr. of Westerly, and his loving partner Mary Perez Comstock. He was the loving grandfather of Chelsea Anderson, Bradley Anderson, James R. Lepikko and Samuel Lepikko. He was employed in the insurance business for many years, working for Thorp & Trainer of Westerly, Woodmansee Insurance of Richmond, and as manager of the Calhoun Insurance Agency in Florida. He was also a Certified Financial Planner. Jim was an active member of the Westerly YMCA since he was eight years old and served on its Board of Directors for a period of time. He graduated from Westerly High School in 1957 and the University of Rhode Island in 1961. He was an Elks Club member, an avid fan of the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots and a NASCAR follower. If you were within his close circle of friends, you were likely to participate in one of his frequent friendly wagers. For 47 years, he and the same group of friends regularly got together to play cards. Jim was an expert conversationalist and if you were lucky enough to meet him, you could be sure that he would quickly have you engaged in conversation, more than likely about yourself. Jim loved traveling the country with Diane, his wife and best friend, in their motor home. Their travels included two cross-country trips throughout the U.S. and Canada. Even in his declining health, Jim never complained and always tried to be positive. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed and always remembered with much love. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the YMCA Camp Fund or the American Heart Association. For online condolences please visit www.rushlowiacoifuneralhome.com .
