(01/23/13) Providence – Cora R. (Hadfield) Turner, 91, of Dean Street died peacefully on Monday, January 21, 2013. She was the widow of Leonard A. “Lennie” Turner who she met as a young girl working together in a jewelry factory.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Albert and Eva (Baker) Hadfield, she lived in West Warwick for 37 years, moved to North Kingstown in 1993 before recently moving to Providence. She was a receptionist, employed by Marshall Williams Company, Providence until her retirement in 1979.
Cora, or “Bud” as most knew her, loved being with family, her most cherished times in her life. Her second loves were rooting for the Boston Red Sox and watching her favorite movie, “Pretty Woman”!
She was a member of the Church of the Master Baptist, Providence where she served on many boards, was a member of its P.Y.A.C. Group and enjoyed the “Homemakers’ Circle” in her younger years. She also served as church secretary. She formerly was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wickford.
She is survived by a daughter: Cheryl L. Curtis and her husband Glenn of North Kingstown; a son: Richard L. Turner and his wife Pam of Greene and her grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Barbara Luther and Albert Hadfield.
