(01/10/13) Richmond - Herbert W. Swain, age 87, of Gardiner Road died Monday, January 7, 2013 at Shady Acres Nursing Home in Exeter. He was the beloved husband of Audrey M. (Rogers) Swain with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 16, 2012.
Born in Edgewater, NJ, the son of the late Bertrum and Ethel (Bolton) Swain, he lived in Warwick for 38 years before moving to Richmond in 1999. He served in the United States Army during World War II. As a member of Teamsters Union Local 251 he was employed as a driver salesman for Gorman Nissan Bakery retiring in 1985.
He was a stamp collector and a member of the Universal Ship Cancellation Society and its Nathan Hale Chapter of Connecticut and of the American Society of Polar Philatelists. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan.
Besides his wife he is survived by his two sons: Keith W. Swain and his wife Pamela of Warwick and Kevin W. Swain of Warwick and his four grandchildren: Stephanie, Cameron, Andrew and Daniel Swain. He was the father of the late Cheryl E. Swain
