Charles Marek - West Warwick, RI

(10/29/12) Charles Marek, 94, of Glenn Drive, West Warwick, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 in California with his daughter, Diana, by his side. He was the husband of the late Mary C. (Gouveia) Marek. Born in Acushnet, MA, a son of the late Thomas and Justina (Rypka) Marek. He resided in the Pawtuxet Valley area for 60 years. Mr. Marek was employed at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station for many years before retiring in 1973. He was a WW II Army Air Corps Veteran serving in the South Pacific with the Fifth Air Corps as a sergeant, a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Crompton, a member of the Pion Chapter # 17 of the Disabled American Veterans, West Warwick Lodge of Elks # 1297, East Greenwich Veterans Firemen Club, American Legion, Post 2 West Warwick and the Crompton Veterans Organization. He is survived by a daughter, Diana Tyler in San Clemente, California and a son, Thomas Marek of Cumberland, RI. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at 9:30 am in Living Hope Christian Church, North Kingstown. Internment will follow with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
