George C. Smith, 59, passed away on October 20, 2012 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of Rose Radford-Smith of Warwick. Born in Pawtucket he was the son of Douglas C. Smith and Theresa (Harris) Lavasseur of Cumberland.
Mr. Smith was a National Champion Bronc rider, exercise rider, pony person at race tracks all over America; he trained race horses and was a quahogger. He was a horseshoe blacksmith by trade and was also the official blacksmith at the equestrian events.
Besides his wife and mother he is survived by four children: Robin Smith, William Smith, Westley Smith and Wayne Smith all of Warwick; a grandchild Jeremy Smith; a sister Rachel Vierra of Cumberland; two nephews and a niece.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 28th at 2:30 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours will be from 1-2:30 PM prior to the service.
