(10/27/12) J.D. Shipley, 87, of West Warwick, passed away Monday, October 22nd at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ann R. (Tetreault) Shipley. Born in Turkey, Texas, he was a son of the late Buddy and Dollie (Walker) Shipley.
Mr. Shipley was a Machine Operator for Washburn Wire from 1950-1981 and R.I. Forge and Steel from 1983-1990. He was a WW II Veteran. He served as president of West Warwick Eagles Lodge 1313 in 1963 and 1965 and was a former member of Warwick Lodge of Elks.
He was the beloved father of Robert E. Davis, William L. Healey, Dennis J. Shipley, Thomas J. Shipley, Jay D. Shipley, Kevin Douglas, Phyllis Canlas, Jean A. Cote, Joan E. Sylvia, Debra J. Roffo, Debra Martin and the late James Seffens, Mary Louise Davis and Sandra Napa. Loving brother of Pete Shipley, Jean Redman and the late Thomas, Alvie and Chester Lee Shipley and Cordelia Bowers. Cherished grandfather, great-grandfather and great, great-grandfather.
His Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 2, 2012 at 10:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 6-9 pm.
