(10/23/12) Cumberland – Ethel (Gibbons) Nicholas, 88, of Pound Road died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. She was the wife of the late William R. Nicholas.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late James and Sarah (Stones) Gibbons, she had lived in Cumberland for most of her life.
She is survived by one daughter, Debra A. Podgurski of Cumberland; one daughter-in-law, Sue Nicholas of Whitewright, TX; one brother, Ernest Gibbons of Cumberland; four grandchildren, Kendal Dunfey, Kristen Podgurski, Karla Ellis and Robert Nicholas; seven great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Carl C. Nicholas and the sister of the late Robert and Edward Gibbons.
Her Memorial Service will be held SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27 at 11 A.M. at Epworth United Methodist Church, 915 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Her burial will be private.
