(09/28/15) Cumberland – Charles H. “Bud” Winter, 88, of Cumberland died Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Marion (Gibb) Marshall Winter and the late Olive (Rothwell) Winter.
Born in Providence, a son of the late George and Dorothy (Goodwin) Winter, he had lived in Cumberland for 63 years.
Mr. Winter was the owner of Winter & Associates for many years before retiring in 1977.
He was a charter member and 50-year member of Lafayette Lodge #47, F. & A.M. and a founding member of the Abbott Run Valley Club, both of Cumberland. He was also a member of the Cumberland Kiwanis Club and the Cumberland Patriots Booster Club.
Mr. Winter served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Cumberland.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Judith Emmett and her husband, Craig and one son, David Marshall, all of Cumberland; one brother, Robert Winter and his wife, Beverly of Colchester, CT; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Thomas C. Winter and the father-in-law of the late Paula Breese and Eileen Marshall.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, September 30 at 11 A.M. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial, with military honors, will be in Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday 5-8 P.M. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:30 P.M.
