(09/07/15) Huse, Barbara Kennedy (Ames), 88, of Foster passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at Woodpecker Hill Health Center of Coventry, RI. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick A. Huse in 2008. She was born in Providence, RI to the late George K. and Florence M. (Kennedy) Ames.
Ms. Huse was a unique woman for her era. After graduating Coventry High School in 1946 she swiftly became hands on in the farming industry. There was no job too dirty and no machine too big she couldn’t handle. She continued to cut acres of grass on larger tractors and help on the farm until age 87 and certainly had her own way of doing things. The family has greatly benefitted from her “Yankee” characteristics and has left a big void among all those who knew her. Some of her other interests were gardening, tending to horses, cows anything farming and outdoors.
She is survived by a daughter: Jane Sroka and her husband Ronald of Foster, RI; granddaughter Rhonda Lee Ziehl and her husband Bill, grandson Randy Lee Sroka, grandson Craig Dias Sroka and his wife Dana; a great-grandson: Senior Airman Nicholas Kyle Ziehl (USAF) and soon-to-be born great-grandson Rylan Edward Sroka and all her “leap” children.
Barbara’s Celebration of Life will be held at Moosup Valley Congregational Church, 81 Moosup Valley Road, Foster, RI 02825 on Saturday, September 12 at 11:00 AM followed with a good ole’ fashion Yankee sendoff.
