(08/01/15) Lorraine E. (Duarte) Sherman, resident of Lincoln Manor, Lincoln, R. I., was valiant in her last weeks, being loving and caring to all who came to visit her. Lorraine Sherman, the beloved daughter of the late Manuel and Bernice Duarte, made her journey home on July 29, 2015. She was the wife of the late George Sherman.
She is survived by three sisters, Elaine DaRosa of North Kingstown, Joan Joseph of Lincoln and Vivian DeFreitas of Athens, Tenn., and one brother, David (Leroy) Duarte of Las Vegas, Nevada; and was the sister of the late Everett Duarte and Edwin Duarte.
She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great grandnieces and great grandnephews, all of whom she adored; as well as her many friends and neighbors she has known throughout her life.
She was a graduate of Pawtucket High School and worked as bookkeeper at Simon Supply Co. in Pawtucket for many years.
Her fondest memories were of her childhood on Prospect Hill; of her lifelong faithful, joyful days at her parish, Christ Church in Lonsdale; the Girls Friendly Society; days she spent at the Holiday House; her annual summer times in New Hampshire; the Boston Red Sox; her enthusiastic support of Tiger Woods\\\' golf matches; her dancing days at the German Club. She was an ardent lover of Frank Sinatra, her gospel recordings of Elvis Presley and all music from her extended collection which she preferred over watching television.
Her family extends its gratitude to those who recently cared for Lorraine, especially the kind and compassionate nurses and staff of the Philip Hulitar Home & Hospice Center, making her journey home easier with their vigilant prayers, love and comfort.
