(07/27/15) Mildred A. (McDevitt) McKenna, 97, of Cranston passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late William J. McKenna, Sr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Daniel B. and Agnes (Brady) McDevitt.
Mrs. McKenna was a Long Distance Operator for New England Telephone Co. until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Peter Church in Warwick.
She was the beloved mother of Margaret M. King and her husband Raymond of North Providence, Daniel B. McKenna and his wife Kathleen of Cranston, John T. McKenna and his wife Jacqueline of Hope, RI and the late James McKenna, Mary Elizabeth McKenna and William J. McKenna, Jr. Loving grandmother of Sarah E. King and Emily C. King, both of North Providence and Shannon C. McKenna, Kelly McKenna and Megan DiFabio, all of Cranston. Cherished great grandmother of Lily DiFabio, Sophie DiFabio, Ireland McKenna and Danny McKenna, all of Cranston. She also leaves her beloved nephew John Riley, her much loved friend and caregiver MaryAnn Sorrentino, her dear friend Sr. Mary Angelus and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick. Burial will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 pm.
