(07/10/15) Pawtucket – Dennis W. Cheetham, 64, of Pawtucket died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Susan J. (Spencer) Cheetham. Mr. and Mrs. Cheetham celebrated their 43rd anniversary this past September 4th.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Joseph P. and Hazeldean (Hill) Cheetham.
Dennis was employed as a machinist at the Providence Journal Company for 32 years before retiring in 2002.
After graduating from trade school, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves.
In 1974, he was the Head Coach of the Darlington Braves. In 1976-77 and again in 1988, he was the President of the Pineview Little League in Pawtucket, and in 1986, he was the Umpire in Chief of the Pineview Little League.
In 1996, 1997 and 1998, he organized the “Tee off for the Kids Golf Class” to raise money for Mental Health Services in Pawtucket. He also organized the Thomas N. Lowery Golf Scholarship Fund for 10 years through the Providence Journal.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two loving daughters, Kimberly Jones and her husband, Gregory of Londonderry, NH and Jennifer Cordeiro and her husband, Michael of Riverside; two sisters, Debra Bianco and her husband, Charles of Pawtucket and Dawn Lindberg and her husband, Michael of Attleboro, MA; one brother, William A. Cheetham and his wife, Pauline of Cumberland; his five beloved grandchildren, Brent Cheetham, US Army; Madison Cordeiro, Abigail Jones; Carly Cordeiro; and Aidan Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, July 15 at 11 A.M. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
