(10/05/12) West Warwick – Michael J. Ray, 56, of Alpine Street, died suddenly at home on Thursday, October 4, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Kathy (Shields) Ray. Michael and Kathy celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on July 12, 2012.
Born in Warwick, a son of Cecelia K. (Ventura) Ray of West Warwick and the late Raymond G. Ray, Michael was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for Accenture as a telecom specialist for 3 years previously working as a telecom manager for Citizens Bank.
His family is remembering him as a very loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother and Grandfather. Michael was an avid sports fan which included his favorites: the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, and NASCAR’s Kyle Busch. Michael loved to travel to different destinations including his favorite, the beautiful islands of Hawaii.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter Andrea M. Ray-Mayer and her husband Bradford Mayer of Somerset, MA; his sons Michael A. Ray of Holliston, MA and Nicholas J. Ray of West Warwick; his brother Brian G. Ray and his wife Patricia (Cooke) of Norfolk, MA; his grandson Alexander Mayer and his nephew Brendon S. Ray of West Warwick. Michael was the brother of the late Timothy J. Ray.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 9:00 – 10:00 AM. Burial, with military honors, will take place in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
