(05/16/15) Georgette J. (Gagnon) Celentano, 85, of Carnot Court, Pawcatuck, passed away on Monday morning, May 11, 2015 at the Westerly Health Center. She was pre-deceased by her husband, John Celentano. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Bowne, wife of Christopher, of Pawcatuck, her daughter, Claire Cronin, wife of James Jr. of Hubbardston, MA, her four grandchildren, Brian, David, Benjamin and Rebecca, and nine great-grandchildren. She was also pre-deceased by her son John and her daughter Joan.
Mrs. Celentano was born in Woonsocket, RI on June 13, 1929, the daughter of French-Canadian parents, the late Joseph A. and Aline (Bacon) Gagnon. She was a loan officer at Beneficial Finance Company in Woonsocket for more than 30 years. Georgette, a devout Catholic, was very active at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Woonsocket where she worked with the elderly and on many activities that the church held. She was a gentle, graceful woman who was always full of gratitude and cherished the time that she spent with her family. Georgette was known as the “Bingo Queen” of the Westerly Health Center. Georgette\'s family is very grateful to, and wishes to thank the staff of the Health Center for their kindly, compassionate, and loving care provided over the time of her residency there.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 95 Main Street, Stonington, on Tuesday, May 26th at 11:00 am. Funeral services are under the direction of Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly.
