(02/27/15) TATRO, John E., Sr., “Jack”, 93, of Narragansett, formerly of West Warwick, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 at Shady Acres Nursing Home, West Kingston.
He was the husband of the late Edith A. (Harrop) Tatro. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edward and Elsie (Krug) Tatro. He lived in West Warwick before moving to Narragansett in 1991.
Mr. Tatro was the proprietor, along with his late wife, of the former Hillside Nursing Home for 25 years and was a service officer for the RI American Legion for 20 years before retiring. He was a WW II Army/Air Force Veteran, a life member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post #2 West Warwick, Past State Commander of the American Legion, the American Legion Forty and Eight Society and the former Gibson Council Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his children, John Jr., Edward, Kathy, William, Elizabeth, Mary and Jimmy and was affectionately known as Pop Pop to thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Mar. 3, 2015 at 9:30 am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Rd., Narragansett. Interment will follow with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visiting hours in the HENAULT – GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick, Monday, Mar. 2, 2015 from 4-7 pm.
