Dorothy L (Marcroft) Hanna - Lincoln, RI

(02/25/15) Lincoln – Dorothy L. (Marcroft) Hanna, 90, of Lincoln died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of William H. Hanna. Mr. and Mrs. Hanna celebrated their 71st anniversary last June 18. Born in Cranston, a daughter of the late William J. and Lillian W. (Scott) Marcroft, she had lived in Lincoln for the past 65 years. Mrs. Hanna was known as the “Bib Lady” as she made custom baby’s bibs and sold them at the Cape Cod Mall and the Raynham Flea Market for many years. She was a graduate of North Providence High School. She was a member of the Pawtucket Jr. Women’s Club. She won many beauty contests. She was a fearless woman who drove cross country. She was a great American adventurer and had a great zest for life. For many years, she was a great contributor to the Arts and designed and made costumes for the State Ballet of Rhode Island. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Jean L. Hanna Dunham and her husband, William of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one son, William H. Hanna, Jr. and his wife, Ella of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Hollis, William and Dillon Hanna; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Fanella LeGeyt and Muriel Shannon. Her funeral service will be held Friday, February 27 at 11 A.M. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday 4-6 P.M.
