(09/17/12) Mary A. Carpenter, 94, of Matunuck Beach Rd. in Wakefield, passed away Monday September 17, 2012 at home.
Born in South Kingstown on August 1, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Arthur B. and Mary A. (Cashman) Carpenter, Sr. Mary was a lifelong resident of South Kingstown. Mary started working in 1935 , at the age of 17, at her family business, Carpenter’s Beach Meadow in Matunuck which she continued to own and operate. She was a member of the South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce and a previous member of the Kent Washington Association of Realtors.
She was the sister of the late Gilbert C. Carpenter, Arthur B. Carpenter, Jr., Benjamin S. Carpenter, Wanton R. Carpenter, Harold H. Carpenter and Susan R. Carmody.
Funeral services will originate at the Forbes Funeral Home, 28 Columbia St., Wakefield on Friday September 21st at 9:30AM, followed by a Committal Service at 11:00AM in the Perryville Cemetery, Post Rd., Wakefield.
