Madeleine I (Marchand) Nixon - Cumberland, RI

(02/17/15) Cumberland – Madeleine I. (Marchand) Nixon, 88, of Cumberland died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Ray R. Nixon. Born in Woonsocket in 1926, she was a daughter of the late Albert E. and Blanche I. (Landry) Marchand. Mrs. Nixon was a long-time Cumberland resident and a member of Christ Church in Lonsdale, Lincoln. She was a member of the Community-Ites of Cumberland. She was a 1944 graduate of Woonsocket High School and attended the University of Rhode Island. She joined Paramount Line Greeting Card Company in Pawtucket as a part-time file clerk in 1966 and rose to become the head of international operations before her retirement. Mrs. Nixon was fluent in French and an accomplished amateur classical pianist. She is survived by her children, Robin Nixon Uncapher and her husband, Mark of Bethesda, MD; Cameron Nixon and his wife, Camille of Warren; and Andrew Nixon and his wife, M.J. Andersen of Attleboro, MA; her sister, Therese (Marchand) LaPorte of Mitchell, NE; and her grandchildren, Anne Nixon, Katherine Nixon, Laura Kohler, Peter Uncapher, and Elizabeth Uncapher. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, February 21 at 11 A.M. in Christ Church, 1643 Lonsdale Avenue, Lincoln. Burial will be in Diamond Hill Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln Friday 4-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Nixon’s memory to Christ Church, P.O.
