Thelma L (Lever) Gileau - Coventry, RI

(02/13/15) Coventry- Greenwich, passed away on February 13th, 2015. Mrs. Gileau had lived in the same house on Parker Street in Coventry from the age of 12 until last year. She was the wife of the late Ernest E. (Slim) Gileau. She was the oldest child of Alfred and Irene Lever. She is survived by 4 children and their spouses: Suzanne Bartlett and her husband Robert of West Greenwich with whom she lived, Jane Watson and her husband Austin ( Skip) Watson of Coventry, Bruce (Buz) Gileau and his wife Ellie of Coventry and Lori Lovely and her husband Robert of West Warwick, seven grandchildren who called her Mema: Graham, Aaron and Amanda Watson, Sarah Gileau-Gagne and Adam, Timothy and Caleb Bartlett and 4 great grandchildren. She was the sister of Elliott Lever and Joyce Langlois. She is predeceased by one granddaughter, Melissa Watson and two sisters, Marilyn Smith and Sylvia Roland. After her retirement as an attendant at the IMH in Cranston in 1986, Mrs. Gileau devoted many hours to several volunteer organizations in Coventry, especially the Literacy Volunteers of Kent County, the Coventry Food Bank, a Home and Hospice Care Volunteer and as a Retired Senior Citizen Volunteer mentor to students at Washington Oak School. Her love of family and family traditions led to the institution of the Annual Gileau Hat Picture and Bingo event and was known to all her friends and acquaintances.
