(09/16/12) Charles W. MacKinnon, 77, of Warwick passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Cedar Crest Nursing Home. He was the former husband of Violet (St. Pierre) MacKinnon of Warwick. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Norman R. MacKinnon, Sr. and Martha (Dalling) MacKinnon.
Mr. MacKinnon was an instructor and examiner for the State of Rhode Island at C.C.R.I., where he served as the coordinator of CDL. He was previously a manager at United Truck and Bus. He joined the Ryder Corp. in 1973 and in 1991 was named Manager of the Year for the East Region of Ryder Student Transportation. He also served in The United States Air Force during the Korean War. A Licensed Ham Operator, his call letters were WQ1Q.
He was the beloved father of Jean A. Adams of Warwick. Loving brother of Barbara E. Kendall, Margaret Morse, Jean S. Williams and Charles P. Adams, all of Warwick and the late Dorothy A. Darigan and Norman R. MacKinnon, Jr.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 11:30 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) followed by a Graveside Service in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, 100 Harrison Avenue, Warwick.
