(01/28/15) Richard C. Spinney, 87, of Coventry passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Alpine Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Pratten) Spinney. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Charles L. and Hope (Johnson) Spinney.
A Registered Pharmacist, Mr. Spinney was the owner and operator of Gateway Pharmacy until his retirement. He received his B.S. from the Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and served as a 1st Lieutenant in The United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Pharmacist Association of Rhode Island.
He was the loving father of Alane Carter-Spinney and Lauren Confreda, both of Coventry and Greg Spinney of Long Beach Mississippi. Cherished grandfather of Crystal Lagor, Kelsey Confreda and Jill Mary Confreda and great grandfather of Caden Lagor. Caring brother of Edward Spinney and Ruth Kennedy, both of Warwick.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 1:00 pm in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick. Burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to Gentiva Hospice, 2374 Post Road, Suite 206, Warwick, RI 02886 would be appreciated.
